Healing maternal trauma

Do you miss the woman you used to be?

Are you ready to stop pretending everything is fine?

Do you long for a space to say what no one asked?

Because “at least the baby’s healthy” is no longer cutting it?

Do you wish someone could just tell you what to do, who to call, and how to be yourself again?

Every mother has a story about how she gave birth—and what it cost her. Yours deserves to be heard.

Imagine if...

You could rebuild your trust in medicine—if it was lost.

You could create a clear, compassionate plan to integrate your crisis into your life and live fully again.

You could make sense of what happened to your body, your mind, and your reality.

You could connect with mothers who’ve lived through it and are building something stronger on the other side.

You could take back your power and learn to love this new version of your life.

at Maternal Interrupted

the woman remains . . .

Inside every mother is a warrior—a force of divine feminine power summoned to bring life into the world. If you’ve found your way here, that power may feel interrupted. We’re here to help you remember it.

At Maternal Interrupted, we guide mothers through a transformational journey of inner work. Our coaching sessions and group classes are designed to confront the cultural silence around maternal health trauma and restore your connection to self. Together, we address the shame and stigma surrounding maternal injury, including birth and loss, rebuild confidence, and help you reclaim agency over your life.

Whether you are physically injured, emotionally scarred, overwhelmed, isolated, or all of the above—this community exists for you. You are not broken. You are not alone. You are still here.

For the woman they forgot to check on . . .

Maternal Interrupted exists to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma surrounding childbirth.
Its mission is to end the silence around maternal injury, pregnancy complications, birth trauma, and prenatal and postpartum mental health. By destigmatizing conversations around maternal morbidity and mortality, the program helps mothers speak the truth of their experiences—without shame or fear.

Through a trauma-informed, holistic approach, Maternal Interrupted empowers mothers to make sense of what they’ve lived through, reclaim their voices, and step onto a grounded path of healing. The goal is to quiet both the internal and external pressures of motherhood, so women can adjust to their new realities and live the lives they once envisioned—with their children, as their whole and authentic selves.

Maternal Interrupted exists to dismantle the silence around maternal morbidity and mental health. Its founder, Emily Jace McLaughlin, has written extensively on the subject, is a spokesperson for Mommas Voices, a program of the Preeclampsia Foundation, a trauma-informed coach, and has taught writing for healing and self-inquiry at the college level for over a decade. This program combines narrative medicine, trauma-informed care, and feminist advocacy to help mothers rebuild from crisis—and reclaim the power of their own voice.
